Karen Pearce has over 20 years experience working in family law. She specialises in relationship property work and presents seminars for the firm on all aspects of relationship property matters. Her background in conveyancing, family trust and company structures means she is able to provide comprehensive advice.
Karen takes pride in providing practical and cost-effective solutions for all of her clients and works towards resolving what can be difficult situations by agreement where possible. She also has wide experience in Family Court work where necessary. Whether it is a “straightforward” or complex matter, Karen can help.
Karen specialises in work under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act regarding the appointment of property managers and welfare guardians. She is on the panel of lawyers able to be appointed by the Family Court for people who may lack capacity to make decisions for themselves. She also assists applicants and other people involved in proceedings about a person who cannot make decisions for themselves. This includes legal aid work.
Karen is on the panel of lawyers able to accept appointments from the Central Authority in respect of Hague Convention and overseas child maintenance work. She can assist with childcare and child support matters. She can also assist with claims against estates under the Family Protection Act. Karen is also on the lawyer for child panel.
In 2019 Karen became a Partner of Reids Family Law.
Originally from the South Island, Karen is married with a young child to keep her busy.
